New Surface Studio PC looks promising

surface_studio_overview_2_herofullbleed_v1Microsoft announced its new Microsoft Surface Studio PC at an event in New York City last week. The new addition to the Microsoft family will be released in limited quantities over this holiday season for $2,999, $3,499, or $4,199, depending on the different hardware options the buyer chooses. This computer completely changes the game for other computer developers, especially Apple, because they have been rivals in the past, constantly trying to out do each other.

The Surface Studio packs a sixth-gen Intel i5/i7 Core processor, a 4GB Nvidia GeForce GPU, up to 32GB of RAM and a 2TB hard drive. Along with a single dedicated power cable, ports include four USB 3.0 jacks, a Mini DisplayPort, an SD card slot and an Ethernet port.

The Surface Studio’s most revolutionary change is the new Surface Dial. This Bluetooth powered device is a completely new product from Microsoft and is made to create a whole new way to control the computer. This puck shaped device sits on the display of the computer and can be twisted and turned giving access to shortcuts, controls, drawing tools, and other features. The Surface Dial also works with third-party applications such as Spotify, Adobe Photoshop, Windows Maps, and more.

The keyboard to the Surface Studio, or Microsoft Surface Ergonomic Keyboard, has been slightly changed to a more unique and elegant look. One addition to the keyboard is the new double-cushioned palm rest. This feature is especially important to people who use their computer for hours upon hours typing or working. It also has a unique shape, having an elevated arch in the middle providing a more comfortable feel. The keyboard does not have rechargeable batteries, but it does come with AAA cells that Microsoft claims will work for a year.

All in all, Microsoft’s new Surface Studio Pro will change how we see computers from all the different companies. The fashionable, chic style and the profound tech specs make for an amazing computer that, surprisingly, may be worth the full price.
