Jackson Prep’s show choir Reveillon, established in 2008, had its best year yet in the 2013-14 school year. First, Reveillon won grand champion at the South Jones competition taking best vocals, best choreography, and best show design. Connor Ball won best male soloist.

Next, Reveillon won second runner up at Opelika Competition. Reveillon went on to win first runner up at Homewood and at the Petal Competition where they also won best costumes. Finally, Reveillon won the title of National Grand Champion at the Fame National Show Choir Competition and won best show, best vocals, and best choreography. Ty Higginbotham also won best male soloist.

After having such a great year, it has been difficult to start back over with only two returning Junior boys and losing 13 experienced performing guys. Along with the two returning Juniors, there are ten new sophomore guys, two new junior guys, and 3 new senior guys.

Reveillon, anticipating the loss, got a head start this summer with teaching and helping the new-comers figure out the best way to learn some choreography as well as other basic performing skills. Since then, the entire show choir has been vigorously practicing their new show.

Ms. Dianne Holbert, the head of Reveillon said, “I am looking forward to once again being recognized as one of the Southeastern United State’s biggest contenders in show choir this year. It is humbling to start the year off as the National Grand Champ from 2014 knowing that we have to meet that expectation again this year. With this talent we have, I know it can be a very successful year! I am looking forward to the challenge!” Prep should expect good things to come from show choir this year.
