Year-End Wrap-Up: Math Honoraries

Mu Alpha Theta:

MuAlphaThetaLogo-fullJackson Prep mathletes took first place this year at the Mississippi College math competition on February 13th, thanks to the efforts of Marina Joel, Robert Wasson, Sarah Kennedy Duncan, and Wesley Robberson.  The team was devastated when they found out the MSMS competition had been canceled.  A win at MSMS would have made it 19 consecutive wins.  Marina Joel, Elkin Crews, and Wesley Roberson were asked to take the qualifying test for the Math Olympiad team.

Chi Alpha Mu:

chi alpha mu bannerChi Alpha Mu is a national math honorary society established to promote interest in and understanding of mathematics among junior high students.  Membership is open to junior high students enrolled in Algerbra I or Geometry and who maintain a 93 average in those math courses.  18 9th graders and 40 8th graders were inducted into Chi Alpha Mu in March.
