Prep gathers to “Meet the Arts”
On September 27th, 2016, the seventh annual Meet the Arts took place in the Fortenberry Theater of Jackson Prep. Many parents, students, family members, and faculty gathered to view the visual and performing arts departments.
Opening the show, the Jackson Prep marching band performed “The Star Spangled Banner.”
From the Drama department, five monologues were given by Juniors and Seniors in the Drama classes.
Representing the Visual Arts department, Ms. Shive and students showed off their large Chinese dragons manned by six to ten people, including a Patriot-themed dragon, put together with red white and blue fabrics.
A capella group The Prep Tones started off the choral performances of the night, followed by the Junior High showchoir, Fusion.
Next up was Capital, the newest addition to Jackson Prep’s choral department, an a capella group in which each student is equipped with a microphone and perform with no music, but only singing words and mouth percussion. They were followed by Reveillon, the Senior High competition showchoir.
Ending the night, students involved in the musical, “The Music Man,” performed a classic scene from the show, “Trouble.”
Meet the Arts was only a sneak peek as to what the great things the visual and performing arts have to offer this 2016-17 year.
