Prep rolls to 28th straight victory
On Friday September 30th, the Jackson Prep football took on their archrivals the Jackson Academy Raiders, defeating them soundly 28-0.
The first quarter was a back-and-forth quarter until Tate Fowler shifted the momentum when he intercepted a Raider pass. On the next play Jerrion Ealy took a handoff 25 yards to give Prep a 7-0 lead.
Prep rode the momentum into the second quarter when Chance Lovertich threw a perfect pass to Jerrion Ealy to give Prep a 14-0 lead. Midway through the second quarter, the Patriots defense forced a punt. Jerrion Ealy fielded a punt and proceeded to make eight Raiders miss on his way to a 79 yard touchdown.
On the next possession, Tate Fowler did his best to match Ealy as he took a punt back 67 yards for a touchdown. Chance Lovertich was very efficient throwing for 71 yards and a touchdown.
Jerrion Ealy led the team rushing yards and receiving yards. Tate Fowler and Jake Newsome anchored the defense each intercepting a pass.
With the win Prep broke the school record for most consecutive wins with 28. The Patriots will look to continue the streak on Friday October 7th against Parklane Academy.
