New Teacher Profile: Mari Farrington
Ms. Mari Farrington is starting her first year at Jackson Prep. Ms. Farrington is Prep’s newest 6th grade teacher. She enjoys and teaches the language arts, and is serving as the 6th Grade Programs Coordinator.
Farrington, a native of Missouri, recalls that in the first grade, she had already begun to want to be a teacher. Later, she decided she did not care what age she taught, she just knew she mainly wanted to teach reading and writing, which is the basis of language arts.
Farrington has had strong ties to Prep even before starting as a teacher at the school. She is married to Prep alumnus Sam Farrington, and has one daughter who is a Prep graduate and another in the 8th grade at Prep.
In 24 years of teaching, Farrington’s favorite thing has been seeing her students grow up and become successful in whatever path they choose to take.
This year she is looking forward to watch the 6th graders get acclimated to and become integrated in the Prep community, along with seeing them grow in knowledge and independence.
Farrington says her favorite thing about Prep is that, in her words, “The community of Jackson Prep is a family.”
