Flowood, MS – The Jackson Prep Patriots hosted the first home game of the 2018 season against the Washington Generals on Friday, August 24, with a 41-0 win. This game was dominated by the backfield, as senior Jerrion Ealy had 4 touchdowns and senior quarterback Alex Gibbs had one rushing touchdown. The Patriots offense held control of the game while the defense held the Generals scoreless.

This dominating performance started just three minutes into the first quarter with an eight yard rushing touchdown from Ealy. He then scored five minutes later with another rushing TD, this time of 24 yards. Due to a missed extra-point attempt, the Patriots led 13-0 when junior Javon Magee leapt over the line and into the endzone with one minute left in the first.

Ealy scored again three minutes into the second quarter with another five yard rushing TD. This was followed by a Gibbs scrambling for a 21 yard rushing TD with 27 seconds left in the second quarter. The game went to halftime with the Patriots leading 34-0. The Patriots opened up the third quarter with a 64 yard touchdown from Ealy, scoring the last points of the night.

While this game was led strongly by the offense, the defense had a stellar game as well, holding the Generals scoreless and with no big gains. Despite this, the defense took a big hit with the loss of senior defensive end Adam Norsworthy early in the game and senior defensive end Gatlin Hixon in the second quarter. Norsworthy is expected to make a full recovery and be cleared to play this week, and Hixon’s status is still questionable.

On August 31, the Patriots take on Forest High School at home. This match against an AAA public school will undoubtedly one of the team’s toughest this year.. The Patriots will need to have a great week of practice and preparation, along with a healthy team and supporting fan base.

Make sure to come out to the game at 7:00 P.M. Friday night at Patriot Field.
