As the dust begins to settle from last week’s game, anticipation builds for the Patriots’ conference opener against Oak Forest Academy. After a rough opening defeat at the hands of Heritage Academy, the team regained its footing in week two with a sound 48-0 victory over the Simpson Academy Cougars. The team hopes to charge into Louisiana and establish an early rhythm, much like they did against Simpson.

The Patriots’ will certainly encounter numerous obstacles for their week three matchup. The first will be the driving distance. The team will spend over two hours on buses during their trip to Amite, Louisiana, the home of the Oak Forest Yellow Jackets. Prep will need to avoid the stiffness that plagued them after the long drive to Heritage Academy. Secondly, Prep is facing a very experienced Yellow Jacket squad. Oak Forest starts a majority senior lineup on both sides of the ball, while the Patriots feature numerous juniors and sophomores. Nevertheless, Prep hopes to play with effort and intensity, which will lead them over any humps in their path.

Finally, Prep will need to show continued success on the offensive side of the ball while maintaining last week’s stingy defense. If the team consistently has numerous red helmets swarming the Jacket’s ballcarriers, the Patriots will most likely attain the win they desire.
