On Friday, September 13, the Jackson Prep football team defeated the Adams County Christian School Rebels with a score of 37-0. Prep’s offense rushed for a total of 144 yards. A highlight on the night was when Holmes Maley and J.C. Polk, two defensive leaders, forced a safety on a punt that was fumbled because of the snap.

Prep scored first with a 30-yard field goal by Louie Gatlin. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 3-0. Then Matt Jones received a handoff and ran the ball 94 yards which was the longest run of the night, for a touchdown. At the end of the half, the score was 30-0, with the Rebels slowly giving up.

Prep started off the second half with the ball and struggled for a few minutes before they got the hang of it. However, Bennet Johnston put the Patriot’s back in the game with a 32-yard pass to Luke Williams who was tackled on the Rebels’ one-yard line. On the next play, Seth Cook ran the ball into the endzone to put the Patriots on top, 37-0. No one scored in the fourth quarter despite a long run by Adams County.

The victory pushed the Patriots to 3-1 as they prepare to take on the Lamar School Raiders in Meridian for the fifth game of the year.
