Enrich MS coming to Prep for vaping summit
From Issue 6
Enrich Mississippi, founded by Jill Gordon, is a nonprofit organization focussing on different categories to help better the youth in our community. Jill started Enrich MS because of an experience her son had at his school. She went to the principal and made clear how it was not the faculty’s fault but her son’s. Jill decided she wanted to make kids aware of the harm vaping can cause to their bodies.
Even though vaping is what sparked her idea for Enrich MS, Jill also focuses on suicide prevention and social media’s impact on highschoolers. A few students in the local area have started volunteering to represent their school through Enrich MS. Enrich MS is hoping to spread to many schools throughout Mississippi and spread awareness for many causes.
Enrich Mississippi is hosting a vaping summit February 5th from 1:00-5:30 pm. Jill encourages parents and students to come and learn the effects of vaping on people’s lives. There will be multiple subject matter experts from the local area attending and speaking.
Here are some of Enrich MS’s statics for e-cigarettes: e-cigarette are used among high school students almost doubled over the past year. All JUUL e-cigarettes have a high level of nicotine. According to the manufacturer a single JUUL pod contains as much nicotine as a pack of 20 regular cigarettes. To learn more check out the 2018 Mississippi Youth Tobacco Survey Data.
