Patriot preseason preparation
This fall season of the 2020-2021 school year will be like none other before. As everyone embarks on this new lifestyle, many adjustments must be made in order for our community and nation alike to see a revival and resurrection in sports. Progress has been made within the athletic department of Prep as several of the varsity teams safely met back together during the summer.
The 2020 Jackson Prep Patriots Varsity Football team began practice at the end of July as they adjusted and set sight to add another championship to the winning history of the program. The Varsity Patriots season will kick off under the Friday night lights on August 21st against the Heritage Academy Patriots of Columbus, MS. The game is set for 7:00 p.m. kickoff at Patriot Field in Flowood.
The Varsity Girls’ Soccer team met together during the summer in preparation for their 2020 season. The Lady Patriots look to kick off their season on Tuesday, August 12. Facing off against the Lady Bobcats of Presbyterian Christian School out of Hattiesburg, this should be a great matchup as the two teams last met in the playoffs of the 2019 campaign.
The Lady Patriots Softball team started back practice at the beginning of July to begin warming up for their season. Their season began in the Simpson tournament where the team finished 2-1, including a game-winning homerun from senior Olivia Sasser against Columbia Academy. The Lady Patriots will look to carry this momentum with them throughout the season.
The Lady Patriots Volleyball team held tryouts at the beginning of June. According to Head Coach Shelby Grace Mays, this year saw the most girls try out than ever before. Since tryouts ended, the team has been practicing in preparation for their opening game against Hillcrest on August 4th.
