Have you had problems with your WiFi lately? She can fix that. Have you had trouble getting into MyPrep? Ask her for help. Meet Dr. Emily Moses, the new Director of Institutional Technology and Student Information system.

Originally from Edwards, Mississippi, Moses earned her Doctorate degree at Mississippi State and then went on to teach at Jackson State University. Dr. Moses has worked at a variety of other impressive schools, one of which was the University of Phoenix in Arizona. She saw commercials online and was intrigued by the fact that they taught online and decided to pursue a new and innovative way of teaching.

Dr. Moses decided wanted to go into technology because when she was in high school she competed in technology competitions led by Coach Robert Strong. Growing up, she had always heard great things about Prep and how they wanted to help the community and strived to innovate, like her.

When Dr. Moses is not trying to further Prep’s technology; she enjoys watching Law & Order, shopping, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She also enjoys “being a nerd” and experimenting with new ideas in regards to technology.

Her favorite thing in technology is Google because “I can ask him anything and he will know the answer; he helps me to know things I wouldn’t otherwise know.” She said that if she wasn’t in the technology field she would probably pursue a pharmaceutical career. Dr. Moses said that she hopes that she can create fearlessness when it comes to technology, and that she can bring Jackson Prep’s technology level up farther than it has been before. She is enjoying Prep and its atmosphere, and cannot wait to see Prep’s bright future in tech.
