Ms. Claire Giachelli is a new preschool teacher at Jackson Prep starting this year. She said she has wanted to teach ever since she was little.
Ms. Giachelli went to college at Mississippi State University. She went through elementary education there, then went on to teach for 11 years. She has taught eight years of third grade and three years of preschool at Madison, Atlanta Public, Trinity Preschool, and First Presbyterian Day School in recent years.
Ms. Giachelli has a 7th grade daughter named Layla who currently attends Jackson Prep. Layla plays soccer for the Lady Patriots. Ms. Giachelli said this has been a good experience, noting that the older girls on the team “take their time to make the younger ones feel welcome, and they give them great advice.” Ms. Giachelli is very pleased with the soccer program here at Prep. She is very involved in the program as well being at all the games, cheering on Layla on the junior varsity team on Thursday nights.
During her spare time, Ms. Giachelli likes to play tennis at the River Hills Club. She also likes to do Pilates and watch Bravo. She loves to go to the beach and to concerts.
Ms. Giachelli is also very happy with how the Lower School, being new this year, has turned out. She said, “I love how happy everyone is, and how much Amanda and Casey are present and uplifting, and this is probably the best place that I have ever worked.” She also loves the preschoolers and, “couldn’t imagine doing another grade.” She said that the preschoolers love to learn and are excited to learn so that makes her job very enjoyable.
