Mr. Jake Pickett has come to Prep this year to be one of the new Defensive backs coaches. Pickett coached at East Rankin High School for thirteen years before coming to Prep.
He also attended high school there and that’s where he met his wife Kayleigh. They started dating in ninth grade and have been married now for eleven years. He has a daughter named Mari Latham, who is nine years old and they are expecting another daughter coming in December. They have two dogs named Maggie and Annie.
In high school Coach Puckett played football, baseball, basketball, and ran track. He got his Kinesiology degree at Mississippi College. He had offers from East Central, Mississippi College and Lambuth University, but decided he didn’t want to play in college and then he wanted to pursue his coaching career.
This is Coach Puckett’s first year coaching on the defensive side of the ball. He previously coached quarterback, running backs, and receiver.
Here is what he has to say about the upcoming year. “I am very excited for this new opportunity, and it’s cool to be working with one of the coaches that taught me during my early years. I love the school and the environment the staff and students bring, and I’m excited for the more years to come as well.”
