Ms. Amanda Quarles joined the Jackson Prep staff this year. She teaches resource students in grades six and seven, and she also teaches computer applications for seventh graders.
Ms. Quarles came from St. Augustine where she taught for the last eleven years. She has been teaching for roughly twenty years, off and on. She used to adjunct part-time at Hinds and Mississippi College.
Born in Florida, Ms. Quarles has a husband named Stewart, and two daughters. One daughter, Mara Brantley, is a freshman at Mississippi State, and the other, Norah Kate, is a ninth grader here at Jackson Prep. She also has two nephews at the school.
Ms. Quarles attended high school at East Rankin where played basketball, and tennis and ran track. Then she attended Belhaven College in Jackson.
When she’s not working she likes fermenting different foods, as well as listening to books, and visiting the beach and the mountains.
“Everybody here is just so nice and I cannot wait to see what the future holds,” said Ms. Quarles as she began her first year.
