Jeffrey Jordan, a Prep alumnus, graduated in 2022 as Valedictorian. He was involved in multiple spheres at Prep including serving in youth legislature, tennis, archery, and ultimate frisbee. Since then, Jeffrey has been quite a busy student. In 2022, Jeffrey chose to attend the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). He initially wanted to attend a college far off, but when visiting Ole Miss, the campus scene and scholarships seemed too close to home for him to leave.
Jeffrey’s main interests lie in politics and law. At Ole Miss, he is a member of the Trent Lott Leadership Institute, a program at the University that puts young adults on track to work in public policy. The program is selective and only takes about 75 to 100 applicants every year, leading it to gain the reputation as one of the more prestigious programs in the South. The Trent Lott Institute has its own building on campus holding only two classrooms and a student lounge. Jeffrey says he enjoys the comfort of this environment even thought it is small.
He says “people often forget how much class size matters. The experience of getting to know and learn from your professors on a one on one basis cannot be beaten anywhere else.” Through the Institute, Jeffrey had the opportunity to intern in Washington D.C. this past summer with the House Committee on Homeland Security – specifically – the subcommittee on
cybersecurity. Jordan says that although he was interested in D.C. life after college, his time interning there changed his mind. Jeffrey says that although life in the U.S. House was fun, it can get hectic and dysfunctional, especially in the 118th congress. Through his hard and diligent work throughout high school and college, Jeffrey is looking to hopefully attend a top twenty law school, where he can further develop his knowledge. Upon getting his J.D. (Juris Doctorate), Jeffrey plans to return home to the South, making a bright future for himself and all connected. Don’t be surprised if you see Jeffrey Jordan on your ballot one day!
