The Iron Patriot is a gruesome workout that the athletes, who do not play football, have to do in their offseason.
It consists of a 100-yard run, 20 pushups, and 20 sit-ups, along with 10 med ball tosses, plus a 100-yard sled push, then a 20-yard sled pull, another 100-yard sled push, and, lastly, another 100-yard run.
The workout is already bad enough, but, not to mention, these athletes have to be at the school around sunrise, so it’s a brutal morning.
“I thought my legs were going to fall off and my head was going to explode,” Hemming Williamson, a 10th grader who plays basketball and baseball, recalled. Coach Taylor is the founder of this workout; he said he used to do it in college, and he has now brought it to prep.
Here at Prep, we thrive to be the best and set the standard for everyone else, and workouts like these will only make us bigger and better than everyone else. It’s what makes us the standard.
