ITALIAN STUDIES
Italian studies hosted a Christmas fair for K3 students in the Lower School. Students visited five different stations to learn about La Befana, Italian cars, different types of pasta, volcanoes, and Italian Christmas traditions.
JUNIOR CLASSICAL LEAGUE
The Junior Classical League attended the annual Latin Christmas Carol Service at Millsaps College. They joined other area Latin programs to hear scripture and sing carols all in Latin.
ONE-ACT PLAY
Jackson Prep Performing Arts presented its one-act, Grey Gardens, on stage in Lindsay Hall on Wednesday, December 4, and at MSU for North DramaFest.
Sophomore Aili Leggett won the overall festival Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Little Eddie and senior Evelyn Waterloo received the All-Star Cast Award for her performance as Big Edie. In addition, senior Eric Wang and freshman Briggs White were recognized for the production receiving “Best Accompaniment in a Show”. Grey Gardens was directed by Prep alum Tom Rice, and produced by Emily Waterloo.
ROBOTICS
On November 16th the Jackson Prep Upper School team “The Boys” went to a Madison County robotics tournament to try to qualify for state championships in February 2025. They won the highest award, “Excellence,” meaning they were the top overall team at the tournament. Their next tournament is January 25th in Madison County.
THEATRE
The Middle School’s Intro to Theatre class produced “A Christmas Carol” on December 10 in Lindsay Hall. The production included multiple short performances so students could gain both on-stage and behind-the-scenes experience.
STUDENT COUNCIL
In November the Middle School student council did a Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit our community partner, We Will Go.
To encourage participation there was a competition between homeroom classes. Ms. Bailey’s class won and enjoyed a donut breakfast.
