The future of track and field was on full display at the annual JV State Track Meet, held at PCS. Hundreds of young athletes from across the state competed fiercely, showcasing their talent in a variety of events.
The meet had a delay because MRA took athletes out of races and then wanted to add them back. The other schools at the meet were very frustrated with the MRA track coaches for delaying the meet for several hours.
The meet kicked off on Wednesday with field events, where Easten Lindsey (9th) set a new personal record in the shot put with a throw of 45 feet and 7 inches. In the long jump, Josh Parker soared in each of his jumps, demonstrating exceptional athleticism and winning the event for Prep.
The running events brought even more excitement. The crowd roared as Josh Parker blazed through the 100-meter dash in a blistering 11.5. The 400-meter dash was not our best this meet but Hastings Boyd still competed fiercely.
One of the most thrilling races of the day was the 4x400mr. The team, anchored by Mac Mazingo, delivered a stunning time, the relay team finished in four minutes and two seconds.
“It’s amazing to compete with teammates who care so much,” said Mathes Tompkins, a ninth grade shot put thrower.
The JV State Track Meet not only highlighted individual achievements but also celebrated teamwork and sportsmanship. Athletes cheered on their competitors, and coaches offered words of encouragement, creating a positive and supportive atmosphere.
