Jackson Prep hosted a blood drive on the 14th and 15th of April. Students were asked to sign up to donate blood the week before and students from grades 10-12 participated. Over 80 students and teachers signed up to give blood initially. The Mississippi Blood Services mobile station parked outside the school at 7:30 in the morning, ready to take the first donors at 8:00. Students checked in with Mrs. Duncan in the senior high lobby and then boarded the mobile station. Once inside, students were screened by workers who determined whether they met requirements to give blood or not. Workers then guided students to the middle of the vehicle and let them sit down at stations while they hooked them up to a blood bag.

Most students gave a pint of blood but a few students gave red cells which takes twice as much blood. Senior Sylvia Hartung decided to give platelets which takes twice as long and she had to drive to the Ms Blood Services center because they did not have the equipment on the mobile station. At the end of the drive 68 students had donated blood. Thank you to all the senior high students who chose to donate blood.

All of the units of blood were credited to Dallas Jordan.
