School Launches New Website
Jackson Prep started the new school year with a new website, jacksonprep.org. The new website was started around last Thanksgiving and released on Back to School Night, August 16.
In developing an all-new website, the main contributors, known as the “core group,” were head of school Dr. Jason Walton, Ms. Emily McClain, Coach Paul Fryant, Ms. Bethany Johnson, Ms. Laura Bishop, and Mr. Ryan Sherman.
The new website runs “through the cloud,” whereas the old website was based on the campus at Prep. The new system can still function when the electricity at Prep is out temporarily, unlike the old one.
The updated website has a design known as “responsive,” because the layout works the same on any device. The intent is to increase the site’s eye appeal to readers and make it more user friendly.
Ms. Bishop, Prep’s director of information technology, called this change “a 21st century solution.” The website address has changed from .net to .org. This website has been designed to be a more adult and student friendly environment.
Impressive new advancements to the layout of the site include graphic features, different quotes from adults relating to Prep, and links to different forms of social media. One of the features to the website is an online student/parent/teacher search directory.
Ms. Bishop said, “We want our website to serve students and parents, so if you find something you would to suggest consider my door open. We would like to hear it.”
