Prep Defeats Washington 33-2
Coach Black ties for second-most victories in Mississippi history
On Friday, August 26th, Prep looked to build on its first win of the season. They did just that as they easily beat Washington 33-2.
The Patriots had the game from the very beginning when a long run by Jerrion Ealy set the tone for the rest of the game. The defense had a dominant performance allowing zero points as a unit. Maddox Henry also came up with a pick-6. The two points came on a safety in the 4th quarter.
Jerrion Ealy led the team in rushing with his one carry for 56 yards. Chance Lovertich had a solid performance to lead the offense as he threw for 102 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for a touchdown.
The offense also needed some guys to step up to replace injured running back Jacob Crawley. JoJo Pound and Jake Newsome stepped up as they each rushed for a touchdown.
This game also was important because Coach Ricky Black won his 347th game as a coach which put him in sole place as the 2nd winningest coach in Mississippi High School history.
On Friday, September 2, Prep will travel to Natchez Cathedral for the first road game of the year. The team hopes to build off their performance last week, and they also want to protect their winning streak.
