Ms. Cyndi Harrison is a new Latin teacher at Prep this year. She teaches classes during fifth and sixth period.

Ms. Harrison was born and raised in Ruleville, MS. One of her favorite activities as a child was to ride horses; she had a horse named Joker. She attended school at Ruleville Elementary School then went to Ruleville High School. She went to college at Millsaps and majored in English.

Mrs. Harrison has taught for many years at various schools. She taught Latin and English at Clarksdale High School for nineteen years. Then she taught Latin at St. Andrew’s for eighteen years before retiring (temporarily) from teaching. One day she came to Prep to see if they needed a Latin teacher and it worked out that there was a position open for her in the afternoons. She said, “I am having fun coming out of retirement!”

Ms. Harrison attends church at St. James Episcopal Church in Jackson and is married to Mr. Bill Harrison. She has three children and five grandchildren. Her children are Abby, Andrew, and Michael. Her grandchildren are John, Mary Douglas, Tolly, Kate and Reagan.

Ms. Harrison’s favorite hobbies include reading, swimming, calligraphy, and genealogy. She said, “One of the best books I read recently was All the Light We Cannot See,” by Anthony Doerr.

Her favorite color is red. One of her favorite foods is pasta salad and one of her favorite restaurants in Jackson is Table 100. In the mornings she enjoys book club, swimming, and taking her pet therapy dog to nursing homes.
