Football Preview: Washington School

After coming off of a season opening win at home last week versus East Rankin, the Jackson Prep Patriots now look to week two to see if they can continue their momentum.

The Patriots will travel to Greenville, Mississippi Friday to take on an unproven Washington Generals team. The generals are coming off of a week one loss (26-7) at Jackson Prep’s crosstown rival Jackson Academy.

Game Overview:

Time: 7 pm, Friday, Aug. 25

Location: Huddleston Field, Greenville, Mississippi

Records: Jackson Prep (1-0)  Washington Generals (0-1)

Players/Matchups to Watch:

Jerrion Ealy (Prep) –

The four-star running back has been Prep’s go to playmaker since he stepped on the campus in seventh grade. Ealy led the way last week in their 42-14 win scoring four of Prep’s six touchdowns. He lines up all over the field on offense from running back to slot and even slides father out to play the outside receiver position and he also returns punts and kickoffs. He has already received offers from Florida State, Ole Miss, Michigan, as well as others.

Bogan Brewer and Peyton Stigall (Washington) –

The two defenders led the team last week in solo and assisted tackles. Brewer totaled 10 tackles and 0.5 tackles for a loss last week, while Stigall added 8 more tackles to the team’s total. Bogan also has proven to be one of the more flexible guys for the generals thus far as he has been playing more than one position for them.

Prep’s offense versus Washington’s defense –

Washington struggled defensively last week against JA allowing 17 points in the second half. Their secondary also couldn’t contend with JA’s passing attack allowing 176 yards through the air. The generals secondary will have to limit Prep’s key offensive players like QB Chance Lovertich and Wide Receiver Peyton Greenwood as well as Ealy if they want to have a chance in this game.
