Whether you eat Mexican food after church, after a game, or whenever you crave it, Mexican food is something most can say is close to their heart. With it being so favored among Jackson Prep students, many have very many opinions on different restaurants.
Restaurant: El Charro
Pros: Good queso and salsa,
Cons: More expensive
El Charro is located on Lakeland Drive between Jackson Prep and River Hills. It is very close to Prep and a great place to go to if you are in the area. The food tastes great and has excellently cooked steak and chicken. My favorite is their happy plate with steak and rice. There is almost always no wait for a table and their service is pretty fast.
Restaurant: Papitos
Pros: Excellent tacos
Cons: Salsa is not the best
Papitos is another restaurant close to Prep that is a go-to for Prep students. The atmosphere is a little chaotic but the food is pretty good. Service is relatively quick and their food is solid. Rosa Sy, a tenth grader at Prep says her favorite food from Papitos is the tacos.
Restaurant: El Potrillo
Pros: Tastes fresh, fast service
Cons: Corn in happy plate
El Potrillo is in Lakeland and is a favorite of Linley Thorne. It is very big and seating is pretty quick. Linley Thorne says, “It is super fresh and the service is super fast… the Coke is very crispy.” The chimichanga plate from there is a favorite of many.
Restaurant: El Ranchito
Pros: Fast service, popular among students
Cons: Crusty queso
El Ranchito is a very recognizable name in the area. It has three locations: One in Madison, one in Richland, and one in Gluckstadt. The Madison location is a favorite for many Prep students including Tinsley Ferris who says, “it has the best food and fast service.” Her favorite dish is the P5.
