Prep eases past Oak Forest 57-7
Amite, La — Jackson Prep knocked off the Yellowjackets of Oak Forest last Friday 57-7 in what was a key road win for the Patriots.
Prep took no time to get themselves in the scoring column as they put up 36 points in the first 12 minutes of the game. Jerrion Ealy led the charge for the Patriots as he totaled 129 all-purpose yards, and he also added four touchdowns to the team’s total. Quarterback Chance Lovertich also kept the Patriots offense rolling as he went 8-11 passing for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
The offense was not the only side of the ball that the Patriots dominated, Prep also had a commanding performance in all four quarters from their defense. The Patriot defense came out early with a game plan
in place that would keep the Yellowjacket offense in check, and their gameplan worked out just the way they wanted it to. Prep held the normally explosive Oak Forest offense to only 138 total yards and 11 first downs. The Patriots also forced the Yellowjackets into three turnovers. One of the forced turnovers came from Junior defensive linemen Jack Gideon who came up with a momentum-building interception in the first quarter.
Jackson Prep will return home this Friday to play Madison Ridgeland Academy in what will be an important late-season test for the Patriots. The game will kickoff from Patriot Field at 7 pm.
