Eli Adams has done four MAD projects, which is more than the average student at Prep does. Service is just one part of Eli’s repertoire at Prep. He is also an athlete, with involvement in multiple clubs, such as the French club.
Eli came to Prep in 7th grade from Pelahatchie Elementary. He quickly became involved in sports, where he now plays football, baseball, and is part of the swim team.
Football is where he has mostly shines, especially at kicker. He is an All-Star, with multiple awards coming from the MAIS. Eli has received offers but has yet to commit to playing football in college.
Playing college sports is a big deal, and Eli realizes the time and effort that goes into it. “Wherever I end up, I plan to study biomedical engineering. I want to go to medical school.” Medical school is a challenging experience, and in 10 years he expects to still be making his way through it.
He says Prep has prepared him for challenging courses, so he is willing to put in the work and do whatever it takes to succeed. He also claims the variety of classes here have prepared him to be knowledgeable in certain things he did not know about prior.
Compared to any other school, Eli says, “The variety of classes is more expanded here than anywhere else.” This shows how he has been able to step out of his comfort zone and try new things, because of the opportunities at Prep.
In the fall, it’s all football, but in the spring Eli trades one ball for another. “I have been playing baseball for as long as I can remember. I like to pitch, play first, and play third.” His favorite memory of sports so far at Prep has been winning the baseball championship his sophomore year, and he hopes to do it again, and hit a pile of home runs.
Community service is also a major part of Eli’s life. When he is not playing sports, he loves to volunteer and help with the local community. Eli is the Vice President of Community Partners for the Prep Community Service Club this year. The Central Mississippi Down Syndrome Society (CMDSS) is the Prep Community Service Partner for 2025. Eli organized a CMDSS Pen Pal Project and a CMDSS Birthday Card Project. This year, Eli has pushed for opportunities for athletes to participate in community service at Prep. “It is a legacy I want student-athletes at Prep to leave behind. Not just in wins and trophies, but also in working hard to help others. The little kids look up to us. I want us to set a good example.”
Eli is a member of Brandon Baptist Church. He credits his love of service to his faith. “When you follow in the footsteps of Jesus, you see the perfect example of serving others. This sounds selfish, but I always leave service feeling fulfilled. It’s like when you pour out your talents and time for others, God just fills you right back up.”
If you see Eli outside of school and sports, he is probably watching football, working out at GRIT, or playing Fortnite online with his friends.
He is thankful for his sister, 10th grader Celeste, and his mom and dad for supporting him through all he does at Prep.
