Prep handily dispatches MRA in playoff semifinals

Jackson, MS– Last Friday, the Patriots of Jackson Prep defeated Madison Ridgeland Academy by a score of 42-7, en route to their seventh consecutive MAIS AAAA championship game appearance. This was a huge win for Prep, as an opportunity to make history awaits in the championship game.

The Patriots got off to a fast start, going up 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. Prep then extended their lead 35-7 before heading to halftime. Quarterback Chance Lovertich tacked on one second half touchdown to push the Prep lead to 42-7, where their lead would hold up for the remainder of the game.

Chance Lovertich continued his stellar play throwing for 224 yards and four touchdowns, all coming in the first half. He also added a rushing touchdown, which was the lone second half touchdown. Running back Jerrion Ealy totaled 221 yards of offense and two touchdowns. Lovertich threw all four of his touchdown passes to different receivers. Cooper Carroll, Reed Peets, Jerrion Ealy, and Jake Maloney all caught one touchdown each in the Patriot victory.

Prep remains unbeaten at 12-0 after the semifinal round of the playoffs. The Patriots will play Parklane Academy, who defeated Jackson Academy in the semifinals on the other side of the bracket, in the MAIS AAAA Division 1 Championship game. This Friday, November 17, Prep will look to complete their undefeated season, and win their sixth championship in a row, something that has never before been accomplished in Mississippi high school history.
