JH football team finishes strong; win last game 41-6

Coach Romano ends his first season with an impressive 7-1 record

Flowood, Ms – Last night, Thursday, October 11, 2018, the Jackson Prep Junior High football team beat the Lamar School Raiders by a score of 41-6 to finish off the season 7-1. Head coach Zander Romano finished off his first season as coach with his seventh win of the season.

The game was a great way to send off the ninth graders. In the first drive, Prep was on defense and Lamar was on offense and the Raiders punted it to Rives Reynolds who muffed the ball and was recovered by Lamar who scored a touchdown on the play. Prep received it the next drive and was successful. Quarterback Cy Craig passed it to William Deas who ran for 40 yards and scored. The rest of the game was great. In the third quarter, Lamar fumbled it on their 15 yard line and it was recovered by Cooper Moore who scooped it up and then scored.

There were five touchdowns for Prep. Some standouts on the night were Sam McMullan with five carries for 84 yards and two touchdowns, William Deas with five carries for 79 yards and one catch for 40 yards with one touchdown, Cooper Moore with one fumble recovery for a 15 yard touchdown, Walker Poole with one catch for nine yards for one touchdown, Walker Box with one catch for 26 yards for one touchdown, Will Gibbs with one pass touchdown for 26 yards, and Cy Craig with two passing touchdowns for 49 yards.

This was the last game of the season and there will not be another junior high game until Thursday, August 15, 2019, at 7:00 in the evening.
