Week 10 football preview — New Hope

Week 10 football preview -- New Hope

Flowood, MS — Following their first and only loss of the season to MRA last week, the Jackson Prep football team will be looking to bounce back Friday versus a subpar New Hope squad. In their 42-21 loss, the Patriots struggled heavily to find a sense of consistency on either side of the ball. However, this was the only time all season that this Prep team has had any matchup where they didn’t feel like they were far and away the better team.

The New Hope Trojans will come to Flowood with an athletic but undisciplined team that is coming off their first win of the season. New Hope beat Leake Central 24-17 last week at home and was finally able to find a sense of identity of the offense. The Trojans will have to replicate this success and some if they want to make a competitive game out of Friday.

Game Overview:

Time: 7 pm, Friday, Oct. 19

Location: Patriot Field, Flowood, Mississippi

Records: Jackson Prep (8-1)  New Hope (1-8)

What to Watch for:

Can the Jackson Prep secondary bounce back?

After a game last week where they allowed the opposing quarterback to throw for 308 yards and four touchdowns, the Prep secondary will have to go back to the basics if they want to get back to their former dominance. This year’s New Hope team has been shutout multiple times this year on the offensive end, so this game will be a prime opportunity for the Patriots to figure out how to get back into winning form.
