The purpose of Coach’s Corner is to a recurring article that will be featured in each issue for students and staff so that they can get to know the coaches of Prep. For the first issue of Coach’s Corner, we will be getting to know Coach Burnett.

Daniel Burnett is one of the youngest coaches in the MAIS and has been coaching the cross country team and the boys’ distance track team. When he’s not coaching, you can catch him working at Fleet Feet shoe shop to help you find the perfect fit in your new running shoes. Coach Burnett has been an advocate runner,  running for Mississippi College, and received his Graduate Degree back in May. When asked the reason why Coach Burnett became a coach, he responded that his first year as a cross country coach for Prep reminded him of the joys of competitive spirit in athletics and he continued to love it the more he coached. His most memorable momenta as a coach were during the 2018 cross country season when Julia Stradinger won the state meet by less than a second, and Preston Speed almost broke 4:40 in the mile in the 2019 track season. One thing Coach Burnett loves about being part of the Prep family is the development of the kids and being given the platform to create workouts for everybody on the team.
