Patriots beat Lamar School Raiders 39-14

On September 25th, the Patriots traveled east to Meridian to face the Lamar School Raiders. The Raiders were 4-1 going into the game, as the Patriots were 3-1. 

Lamar School dominated the first drive of the game and got points on the board first. With a 0-7 deficit, the Patriots came back with a drive of their own and pulled ahead 8-7. Big plays kept coming from both sides of the ball. Matt Jones ran in for his second touchdown of the game, resulting in a Patriots 15-7 lead going into the half.

The Raiders were held scoreless in the 3rd quarter of play. Jones scored yet another rushing touchdown to put the Patriots up by 15. Louie Gatlin helped raise the score by 3 when he put a 44 yard kick through the middle of the uprights.

Lamar finally answered back with a 99 yard touchdown pass. The Raiders could not come back and win. The Patriots won 39-14, advancing their record to 4-1.

Matt Jones finished the game with 5 touchdowns and was nominated for Blitz 16 Player of the Week and Clarion Ledger’s #MSPreps Athlete of the Week.

The Patriots host the Taylorsville High School Tartars at Patriot Field in Flowood on Friday, September 27th. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
