New Teacher Profile: Emily Waterloo

Ms. Emily Waterloo, Director of Theatrical Productions, recently joined Prep’s administration for the 2021-2022 school year.

Ms. Waterloo is a former managing artistic director of Brookhaven Little Theatre. She has designed 40 productions over the past eight years.

Ms. Waterloo was born in Jackson, and grew up in Brookhaven, where she attended high school. She performed at Ballet Mississippi when she was younger.

Ms. Waterloo has lived in Mississippi her whole life, except for one year when her husband got a job in New York on Wall Street. They lived in New York for one year, then moved back to Jackson. They have daughters in fifth, seventh, and ninth grade, as well as one who is a freshman in college.

During the pandemic her theater shut down, and she and her husband moved for a job switch. Prep reached out to her and she knew she wanted to take the job. So far she has enjoyed getting to know the students, learning the culture of Prep, and the performing arts. Also, her favorite cafeteria food is a chicken salad from the salad bar.

Ms. Waterloo has thoroughly enjoyed her time so far working at Prep, and even putting together the musical Grease that will premiere in October 2021.
