A Season in Review: Senior High Football

This story is part of a series detailing seasons that finished before the coronavirus postponement.

The 2019 Jackson Prep football team was very dominant throughout the season, as they made it to the championship yet again. Starting off with a tough loss to Heritage Academy, the Patriots came back to continue the season with a seven-game winning streak. After the fall to Heritage, Prep hosted Simpson Academy as the home opener and put up an impressive 48 points while holding them to 0.

Continuing the season with wins against Oak Forest, Adams County Christian, and Lamar, the Patriots would take on the highly anticipated matchup against Taylorsville in week 6. After a blowout win against Taylorsville, the Patriots played cross-town rival JA for a 28-17 victory. Before taking on MRA, Prep beat Washington 56-21. After another tough loss to MRA, Prep finished the season with a win over Parklane in the final game of the regular season.

The defending state champion Patriots went into the championship after defeating PCS and JA in the playoffs. This put Prep against MRA once again for the district championship. Prep came up short in the big game and fell to MRA 33-48.
