Jackson Prep’s dance team, the Pacers, performed in Disney Springs, a shopping district at Disney World, on February 14. The Pacers left Jackson on the 12th and arrived shortly in Orlando.
At Disney Springs, the Pacers performed a 15 minute long dance, which was a huge feat because a typical Pacer dance is 3 minutes long.
Captain Anne Melton Hewitt and officers Maggie Thompson and Brookelyn Johnson spent months preparing the dance. The dance was divided into 15 sections and pacers were split into groups to perform. The crowd watching the Pacers at Disney Springs was huge and excitement was everywhere. Sophomore Avery Dale said, “When we walked out I was in complete shock that there were so many people there.. there were people taking up all the benches and were filling the seats”.
As a tradition, every three years, the Pacers take a trip to perform at either Disney or Universal. Pacer sponsor Ms. Christina Jackson has organized and traveled three times on these trips with the Pacers.
The Pacers went to most of the kingdoms including Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. Julia Herring, a Junior, says her favorite kingdom was Hollywood Studios and her favorite ride was Guardians of the Galaxy .
The Pacers loved the trip and the opportunity to perform at Disney World.
