New Teacher Profile: Chance Theriot

Mr. Chance Theriot is the new eleventh grade science teacher at Prep. Originally from Poplarville, MS, which is south of Hattiesburg and north of Gulfport, Mr. Theriot attended Poplarville high school.  He went on to receive a B.S. in Chemistry Medical Sciences from Mississippi College and is currently working toward a Master’s of Mathematics degree.

Before coming to Prep, he taught at Jackson Academy and St. Joseph’s. While at St. Joe they also had the block schedule, but the classes were fifty minutes, so the schedule isn’t new to him.

In 2017, Mr. Theriot was named High School Chemistry Teacher of the year.

Before deciding to come to Prep he had heard a number of good things about the school, such as finding the students engaging and hardworking. Mr. Theriot says he looks forward to staying here, although for now he is a part time teacher.

One of his favorite parts so far at the school is the lunch. Mr. Theriot also enjoys all the support he gets from the faculty.

Outside of school Mr. Theriot enjoys fishing, and says that if he could fish all day he would. He enjoys fishing in lakes, ponds, and even saltwater fishing.
