Zest, Jackson Prep’s new food service company, has brought many developments to the students’ cuisine.
Over the summer, Jackson Prep switched from Lexington Foods to Zest Culinary Services. Zest is a local food service company that serves at a few other schools in the area.
When Prep’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Forrest Ashworth, was deciding what company would be the best fit for Prep, Zest stood out to him as an amazing option. Not only was it a suitable financial arrangement, but he said, “It was great. The presentation, the service, the people.” It was chosen not only because of its quality food, but also because of the employees’ friendly attitude.
So far, the responses to the new company’s arrival have been positive. In the first few weeks of school, there appeared to be a few difficulties with the efficiency and speed of the checkout process, but as the year has progressed, the checkout line has become increasingly less time consuming.
Students’ responses have been very complimentary so far. Sophomore Olivia Rader said, “ I feel like there is much more variety and much more options.” She, along with many other students, loves the different variety of foods served on rotation each day such as Mexican, Greek, and Italian food.
Not only are students loving the many different international foods, but they are also enjoying the different and healthy options served every day.
Students are enjoying healthy options like the new smoothies, the salad bar, and fresh fruit. It is very important for all people, especially student-athletes, to eat well throughout the day, and so far, Zest has given students the opportunity to make their diets healthier.
